How is Long-Term Residence – EU different from an ordinary Austrian settlement permit?

Austria issues several types of settlement permits. Many of the ordinary settlement titles are quota-bound or restrict the kind of work you may do, and they are oriented toward a particular purpose of stay.

The Long-Term Residence – EU title is a step beyond these. It rewards five years of established residence with free access to the labour market and a more durable settlement status. In practice it is the consolidation point of the settlement system, which is why it requires the longer residence period and completion of Integration Agreement Module 2.
