Do I have to get my foreign education assessed (ECA) for the Federal Skilled Trades Program?

Unlike the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program does not require a minimum level of education to be eligible. The focus is on your trade experience, language ability, and either a job offer or certificate of qualification.

That said, education still helps your ranking. If you obtain an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for foreign schooling, or have Canadian education, you can earn additional Comprehensive Ranking System points, which can make the difference in a competitive Express Entry draw.
