How long is a Belgian professional card valid and how is it renewed?

The professional card is granted for a period of at most five years. In practice a first card is often issued for a shorter, probationary period, after which a longer card may follow if your activity meets the conditions.

Renewal is not automatic: you should apply to renew the card before it expires – commonly at least a few months ahead – through the body where you originally applied. Filing in good time helps avoid an interruption in your right to carry on your self-employed activity.
