How long can my child stay on a Child Student visa?

The length of permission depends on the child's age. For a child under 16, the visa is normally granted for the length of the course up to a maximum of six years, plus around four months afterwards.

For a child aged 16 or 17, the visa is usually granted for the course length up to three years, plus about four months. These periods can be extended in the UK if the child has a new, unconditional offer from a licensed Child Student sponsor.
