How long is the Hungary Researcher Residence Permit valid, and can it be renewed?

A standard researcher permit runs for at least one year and up to two years, but it is shortened if your hosting agreement is for a briefer period. It can be extended for up to a further two years while your research continues.

In every case the permit cannot be valid longer than your travel document, so a passport close to expiry will limit how long a permit you receive. Plan your passport renewal ahead of any application or extension.
