How long is the Dutch student residence permit valid, and does it cover my whole degree?

The permit is tied to your enrolment. It is normally valid for three months longer than the planned length of your programme, including any preparatory or foundation year, so the end date follows your study schedule.

The maximum single grant is five years. If your programme is longer, or you change to a longer course, the permit can be extended, but it always stays linked to the institution acting as your sponsor and to your continued enrolment.
