How long is the Hungarian Card valid and how do I extend it?

The Hungarian Card is issued for up to three years and can be extended for a further three-year period. Your travel document must remain valid for at least three months beyond the permit's expiry, so check your passport early.

Extensions are submitted through the Enter Hungary online platform. You must hold a valid permit when you apply, must have resided in Hungary for at least 90 days within any 180-day period, and must apply no more than 90 days and no later than 30 days before expiry. Missing this window can interrupt your status.
