A Slovakia EU Blue Card is granted for a multi-year period when your employment contract supports it, with official sources citing validity of up to four or five years. If your job contract is shorter than that maximum, the card is issued for the duration of the employment plus an additional 90 days.
This design gives you a buffer if a contract ends, but you should apply to renew or change status well before expiry. Keep your employment, accommodation and health insurance documentation current so a renewal can be processed without gaps.
