
You may be absent for no more than six consecutive months and no more than a total of ten months over the qualifying period after notifying the police; longer absences can cause loss of status.
EU long-term residence requires you to keep a genuine link with Slovakia. Absences are limited: as a general rule you should not stay outside Slovakia for more than six consecutive months, and total absences are also capped over the relevant period after you notify the police department.
If you spend too long abroad, your long-term residence can be revoked. If you plan extended travel, check the current absence rules and notification requirements first, and keep evidence of your dates of departure and return.
