The single permit combines residence and work authorisation in one document, replacing the old system of a separate residence permit and a separate work permit.
Slovenia consolidated what used to be two documents into one. Previously a foreign worker needed a residence permit issued by the administrative unit and a separate work permit issued by the Employment Service.
The single permit merges both rights so that one document grants the right to enter, reside, and work. The application is handled as a single combined process, although the Employment Service still provides consent on the work side. For applicants this means fewer parallel procedures and one permit to track and renew.
