Yes. You must hold adequate Overseas Visitor Health Cover (OVHC) from an approved Australian provider for the entire duration of the visa.

Health cover is a core requirement of the 870. You must take out Overseas Visitor Health Cover from a health insurer approved by the Department, and it must be maintained for the full length of your stay.

Letting the cover lapse can breach your visa conditions. Arrange the insurance before you arrive and keep the policy current, including when you renew or extend, so you remain compliant throughout.
