You must be a full-time student at a DLI in an eligible program of at least six months leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate, with a study permit that allows work, and a SIN.
To work off campus without a separate work permit, you generally must be enrolled full-time at a designated learning institution in a post-secondary academic, vocational, or professional program (or a vocational program at the secondary level in Quebec) that lasts at least six months and leads to a degree, diploma, or certificate.
Your study permit must include a condition stating you are allowed to work, and you need a Social Insurance Number (SIN) to work legally. You can only begin working once your study program has actually started, never before.
