Authorities check that you are successfully integrated, familiar with Swiss life, respect public order and security, and do not pose a threat to Switzerland.
Integration is assessed broadly. The cantonal authority verifies the formal conditions and then looks at whether you participate in economic and social life, respect the values of the Swiss constitution and the rule of law, and are familiar with local living conditions.
A clean record regarding public order and security is also required: you must not pose a threat to Switzerland's internal or external security. These criteria are evaluated alongside your language ability and residence history as a complete picture of integration.
