You must pass Proeve i Dansk 2 (or an equivalent or higher level) as a basic requirement; passing the higher Proeve i Dansk 3 can additionally count as one of the supplementary requirements.
Danish language ability is a core part of the permanent residence rules. The baseline is Proeve i Dansk 2 or an accepted equivalent, which every applicant must satisfy.
If you pass the more advanced Proeve i Dansk 3, that stronger result can also count toward the supplementary requirements - helping you reach the two-of-four threshold or, combined with the others, qualify for the faster four-year route. Failing the required language exam is a common reason applications are refused.
