Settlement is permanent and not tied to a specific employer, profession or canton. C permit holders have free access to the Swiss labour market and may change employer, take up self-employment, or stay out of work without losing the permit. The permit is valid throughout Switzerland, so moving to another canton does not require a new permit, but you must register with the new canton's authorities and have your new address recorded in the permit.
