Yes. You must be nominated on a Form 1000 by a person or organisation with a national reputation in your area of talent.
Every 858 applicant needs a nominator who has a national reputation in the same field as your talent. The nomination is made on Form 1000 at the time you apply.
The nominator can be an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, an eligible New Zealand citizen, or an Australian organisation. Their role is to attest, from a position of standing in your field, to your record of achievement. Choosing a nominator who genuinely has national standing in your specific area is important, as this is a core eligibility requirement.
