The Researcher Residence Permit is a Danish residence-and-work permit for third-country nationals offered a paid researcher position at a Danish institution or company, where research is the primary purpose of the role. Unpaid guest researchers and PhD students use separate routes.
This permit is for non-EU nationals taking up a salaried researcher role at a Danish research institution or company, where research is the main purpose of the position. It is distinct from the routes for unpaid guest researchers and PhD students, who apply separately.
To qualify you generally need an offer of a paid researcher position with research as its primary purpose, particular research-related reasons linking the role to you specifically, salary and employment terms at Danish standards (only qualifying components count), and an employment contract documenting the terms. The official portal lists processing of about one month, with an indicative fee of DKK 6,810.
The qualifying pay components and fees can change, so confirm the current details on nyidanmark.dk before applying. If you have a research offer in Denmark, ACME can review whether it fits this route or one of the other researcher options and help with the paperwork.
