A designated organization is an IRCC-approved Canadian venture capital fund, angel investor group, or business incubator that must agree to support your business before you can apply.
The Start-Up Visa requires you to get the backing of a designated organization. These are Canadian venture capital funds, angel investor groups, and business incubators that IRCC has approved to participate in the program.
If the organization decides to support your start-up, it issues a letter of support (and sends IRCC a commitment certificate) that you must include with your permanent residence application. Without this letter of support, your application is not eligible, so securing a designated organization is one of the first and most important steps.
