The permit can be granted for up to four years, but never longer than the hosting agreement or your passport, and it can be extended.
A researcher permit can be issued for a maximum of four years. However, it can never exceed the validity of your hosting agreement or the expiry date of your passport, so a shorter agreement means a shorter permit.
Extensions are possible. If your research continues and your hosting agreement is renewed or extended, you can apply to extend the residence permit accordingly.
