This is France's standard work permit for non-EU nationals on a CDI or CDD contract who do not meet the Talent thresholds. Unlike the Talent route, the employer must obtain prior work authorisation, including a labour-market test.
The Employee Work Permit (Salarie / Travailleur temporaire) is the conventional route for non-EU nationals with a French job offer who do not qualify for a Talent card. You will need a valid employment contract — either permanent (CDI) or fixed-term (CDD) — a salary that meets legal minimums and the applicable collective agreements, and a long-stay visa that you validate within three months of arriving in France.
The key difference from the Talent card is that your employer must first obtain work authorisation, which includes a labour-market test demonstrating that no suitable EU/EEA or resident candidate is available for the role. This extra step makes the standard permit slower and more involved than the Talent route, which is exempt from the test.
The initial permit costs EUR 350 (EUR 250 on renewal), plus EUR 300 for long-stay visa validation. If your profile and salary could meet a Talent threshold, that route is usually preferable; if not, the standard permit is the dependable option.
