Your business must be genuinely innovative, for example a product or service new to the Netherlands, a new technology, or a new way of organising or producing.
The start-up permit is reserved for innovative ventures, not ordinary small businesses. Your idea has to be innovative in a recognisable way, such as offering a product or service that is new to the Netherlands, using new production or distribution technology, or introducing an innovative way of working or organising.
The innovation requirement is assessed seriously, so you should be able to explain clearly what is new about your venture and why it adds value. A conventional business that simply copies existing offerings is unlikely to qualify under this route.
