You must register your arrival at the commune where you live within 14 days of entering Switzerland, before starting work or studies.
Switzerland requires newcomers to report to the residents' registration office of their commune. The official deadline is at the latest 14 days after arrival, and you should not start a job before completing this step.
At registration you confirm your address and the residence-permit process is finalised so your permit card can be produced. Missing the deadline can cause administrative problems, so it is best to register as one of your first tasks after arriving.
