Can permanent stay in Croatia be lost once granted?

Permanent stay is durable but can still be ended in defined situations. Relocating abroad, or being absent for more than one continuous year, can cause you to lose it, so maintaining your residence in Croatia matters.

It can also be withdrawn if you are forbidden entry or stay, if you become a serious threat to public policy, security or health, or if you voluntarily give it up. Keeping your residence active and avoiding long uninterrupted absences is the best way to protect the status.
