The Digital Nomad Visa targets people whose income comes from outside Romania. You must either be employed by a foreign-registered company or own and manage a company registered abroad, and your work must be carried out remotely using information and communication technology.
The key idea is that you are not entering the Romanian labour market or being paid by a Romanian employer. Your professional activity and income stay tied to entities outside the country.
If your work is local, or you intend to take up Romanian employment, a different route such as the employment single permit would apply instead.
