Do I need to get my foreign education assessed for the Federal Skilled Worker Program?

For the FSWP, you can have a Canadian educational credential, or a foreign credential together with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from a designated organization. The ECA confirms that your foreign diploma or degree is valid and equivalent to a Canadian credential.

Without an ECA, foreign education generally cannot be counted toward your points. Since education is worth a meaningful share of both the 67-point grid and your Comprehensive Ranking System score, obtaining an ECA early is usually a key step for applicants educated abroad.
