You need higher education of at least 180 credits (or, for some roles, around five years of relevant professional experience), a job offer of at least six months, and a salary meeting the threshold (SEK 52,000/month from July 2025).
The EU Blue Card is for highly qualified workers. You normally qualify on education by holding higher education corresponding to at least 180 higher education credits; for certain occupations, around five years of relevant professional experience can be accepted instead.
You also need a signed contract for highly qualified employment lasting at least six months and a salary at or above the threshold. As of 9 July 2025 the minimum is SEK 52,000 per month, set at 1.25 times the average Swedish salary. You must hold comprehensive health insurance until Swedish coverage begins. Thresholds are updated, so confirm the current figure before applying.
