Trades candidates have sometimes been selected at lower CRS scores than other Express Entry candidates, particularly when category-based draws target trades occupations.
Skilled trades workers can benefit from being assessed against other trades candidates rather than the entire Express Entry pool. Historically, trades applicants have at times been invited at lower Comprehensive Ranking System scores than skilled workers in other programs.
In addition, IRCC runs category-based selection draws that can specifically target trades occupations. If your occupation is included in such a draw, you may receive an invitation to apply even if your overall CRS score would not be high enough in a general all-program draw.
