After finding a qualifying job with adequate pay, the AMS issues a positive assessment and you apply for the 24-month Red-White-Red Card tied to that employer.
The path runs from the six-month jobseeker visa to the card. While in Austria on the visa you look for employment that matches your qualifications and offers adequate compensation. When you find it, the AMS reviews the role and provides a positive assessment.
With that assessment you apply for the Red-White-Red Card, which grants 24 months of fixed-term settlement tied to the specified employer. Self-employment is allowed only if it is subsidiary to your main job. Aim to secure the qualifying offer well within the six months so you can transition without a gap in status.
