When do I actually become an Australian citizen after I am approved?

Being approved for citizenship is not the final step. For most applicants, you become an Australian citizen only when you make the Australian citizenship pledge, which is normally done at a citizenship ceremony.

You are generally required to attend the ceremony within a set time after approval. Some applicants, such as young children included on a parent's application, may not need to make the pledge.
