Graduates can apply to extend their stay by up to nine months to look for a job or set up a business. To stay longer you must switch to the appropriate work or business permit.
Finishing your program does not mean you must leave immediately. Romania allows recent graduates to request an extension of stay of up to nine months specifically for job-search activities, or to complete the formalities to open a business.
This post-study window is a bridge, not a permanent status. If you find employment or launch a business, you must change to the relevant residence permit for work or for business activity before the extension runs out. Plan the transition early so you do not fall out of status.
