Off-campus and on-campus work rules cover ordinary part-time jobs, but mandatory work placements are handled differently. If your program of study includes a required co-op, internship, or work placement, you generally need a separate co-op (or intern) work permit.
The work placement must be an essential part of your program, and it normally cannot make up more than a set portion of the program. Apply for the co-op work permit before starting the placement, since working in a required placement without the proper permit can breach your conditions.
