Who can sponsor (invite) a relative under Latvia's family reunification permit?

Under the rules published by Latvia's Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (PMLP), the person inviting a family member must be a Latvian citizen, a Latvian non-citizen, or a foreigner holding a permanent residence permit in Latvia.

Before you submit your documents, your inviter has to formally approve the invitation at the PMLP. This sponsor approval is a required first step, so coordinate it with your relative in Latvia before you lodge your own application abroad.
