Absences are tolerated within limits, generally up to six consecutive months and up to about ten months in total over the qualifying period, if justified.
Continuous residence does not mean you can never leave. PMLP allows certain absences, generally up to six successive months and around ten months in total across the five years, where justified (for example by illness or force majeure).
Exceeding these limits can break the continuity needed for the status. If you anticipate long trips, check the current absence rules with PMLP and keep evidence of the reasons for any extended absence.
