If you hold the EU-directive researcher permit (master's level and above), you can carry out research in other EU member states under mobility rules, subject to notification; the national bachelor's-level permit is limited to Finland.
The researcher permit comes in two forms. The EU-directive permit, available to researchers at second-cycle (master's) level and above, allows mobility to conduct part of your research in other EU member states.
This mobility is subject to conditions, including notifying the relevant authorities, and is based on your hosting agreement with a Finnish research organisation. The national permit, granted at bachelor's level, does not carry these EU mobility rights and is restricted to Finland.
If cross-border research is important to your project, confirm which permit type you hold and follow the mobility notification requirements before working in another EU country.
