Do my family members automatically get permanent residence when I do?

Getting a permanent residence permit yourself does not extend permanent status to your spouse or children automatically.

Each family member needs their own permit. They may apply on the basis of family ties to you, or build up their own qualifying residence and apply for a permanent permit in their own right once they meet the conditions.

Because everyone's permit history and qualifying period can differ, family members often reach permanent residence at different times. Plan each person's application individually rather than assuming one approval covers the whole family.
