An ETA is a digital travel permission for non-visa nationals visiting the UK for up to six months. It is not a visa: it is applied for online, costs a small fee, and allows multiple trips over two years. Visa nationals (including Indian citizens) cannot use it and need a Standard Visitor visa instead.
The Marriage Visitor visa is for people who want to come to the UK to marry or form a civil partnership, or give notice of marriage, and then leave. It is for visitors who do not intend to settle. Those planning to live in the UK with a partner should use the Family visa route instead.
The Standard Visitor visa is for short visits for tourism, seeing family, business meetings, or short-term study, usually for up to six months. Whether you need it depends on your nationality: visa nationals (including Indian passport holders) must get it before travel, while non-visa nationals normally use an ETA instead.
