Permanent residence is generally available after five years of continuous qualifying residence in Czechia. It requires a Czech language exam at A2 level, and the resulting permit is valid for 10 years and frees you from any single purpose of stay.
This permit lets specified family members of a non-EU national lawfully residing in Czechia join the sponsor. A key advantage is that holders gain free access to the Czech labour market.
Czechia's cornerstone work route is the Employee Card, with the EU Blue Card for highly qualified staff and the ICT Card for transfers. Most skilled workers use the Employee Card, the combined work-and-residence permit open to all qualification levels. Highly qualified professionals with a degree and a higher salary can use the EU Blue Card, and government economic-migration programmes can speed up the process.
It is issued for a maximum of two years at a time and can be repeatedly extended in two-year increments as long as you keep meeting the conditions.
