A family member's permit is issued for the duration of your own residence permit, but for no more than one year at a time.
Family members' permits are linked to the sponsor's status. The permit is granted to match the validity of your residence permit, but capped at a maximum of one year per issuance.
This means family permits are renewed in step with your own renewals. To avoid gaps, applications should be filed in good time; the official source notes that applications should be submitted not later than 14 days before the relevant term expires. Plan renewals early to keep the family's status continuous.
