The permit is issued for a maximum of two years. As long as your research activity continues, it can be renewed repeatedly, with each extension also covering up to two years.
This makes it well suited to multi-year research projects. To keep continuity, file your extension on time, generally at least 120 days before expiry and no later than the last day of validity.
