The most common pitfalls are a salary below the applicable threshold, applying through an employer that is not a recognised IND sponsor, or untranslated or unlegalised documents.
Because the Highly Skilled Migrant route is salary- and sponsor-driven, most problems stem from those two elements. Offering a gross salary even slightly below the threshold for your age group, or having a salary that the IND considers not in line with the market, can lead to refusal.
Applying through an employer that is not (yet) a recognised sponsor is another frequent issue, since the employer must hold that status to file. Finally, ensure every foreign document is properly legalised and translated into Dutch, English, French or German, as missing formalities cause avoidable delays and rejections.
