The visa is primarily for travel and short-term work, so study is allowed only as a secondary activity. The four-month cap covers the whole period of the visa, not per course.
This is enough for short courses such as language classes, a skills certificate, or professional training. If you want to undertake longer study, you would need to apply for a student visa instead.
