Adults who register usually attend a citizenship ceremony, while children under 18 do not. The ceremony is where you make the citizenship oath and pledge.
If you are 18 or over when your registration is approved, you will normally be invited to a citizenship ceremony, where you affirm your commitment to the UK before your certificate is formally presented.
Children under 18 do not attend a ceremony; their certificate of registration is issued without one. Your British citizenship takes effect from the date on the certificate, and only after that can you apply for a British passport.
