A student permit is normally granted for one year and renewed each year. Alternatively, you may obtain a multi-year permit aligned with the length of your programme, but the total duration cannot exceed the course length increased by four terms, with an extra year allowed for prerequisite language study.
Holders of multi-year permits must, every two years, submit an enrolment certificate, proof of exam participation, and an updated transcript. Failing to provide these can lead to withdrawal of the permit, so stay on top of the academic documentation.
