In some cases yes, for example from certain work or study visas, but you usually cannot switch from a visitor visa or short-term leave.
It is sometimes possible to switch to the family route from within the UK if you are already here on another eligible visa, such as a work or student visa, and you meet all the requirements.
However, you generally cannot switch if you are in the UK as a visitor or on leave granted for 6 months or less; in those situations you usually need to apply from outside the UK. Check the switching rules for your current visa type before you apply so you use the correct process.
