Continuous, legal residence is required; for a five-year permit, absences are capped at six consecutive months or ten months in total, and a ten-year permit is voided by absences over two consecutive years.
Greek residence permits require continuous and legal residence, and extended time abroad can jeopardise your status. For a five-year permit, you generally must not be absent for more than six consecutive months, or more than ten months in total over the period.
For a ten-year permit, an absence exceeding two consecutive years voids the permit. If your business requires frequent or lengthy travel, track your days outside Greece carefully to stay within these limits.
